What a great subject for the artist...Have you heard me discourse that Merlin may not have been a David Blaine-type magician, but more of an intellect and time-traveler?  Many of the early legends hint that "Merlyn" moved through time differently than you or I, possibly in the opposite direction.  This would explain feats of engineering that were not of the Arthurian age, and causing eclipses and other phenomenon (they had already happened before he predicted them).  If you read Opus, you'll see the affinity I mention
